Pruneaux à l’Armagnac - my take on it

This little piece of heaven comes from Gascony. Invited for a visit at someone's place in the region often means an invitation for pruneaux. The prunes are often served after dinner as a digestif - nothing less than prunes soaked in Armagnac for a lengthy period of time.
A friend of mine who owns a gourmet store promised me a treat during one of my visits - some kind of a special prune. Didn't expect anything that amazing! Needless to say - I bought a jar of pruneaux. And although I was savouring it for more special occasions - as much as all good things - it was gone over some time.
So trying to reinvent pruneaux, I decided to try and combine it with Porto instead of Armagnac and see how that works.

Almond milk with fresh strawberries

"I make milk. What's your superpower?"

One of the most amazing childhood treats. Fresh berries with milk! Mmmm. A bit fancier version of what I remember from when I was little - berries with almond milk.
The season of fresh berries is about to start. Right now we can already find strawberries imported from other countries. Needless to say - they don't taste as real and as good as locally picked ones. But after a winter, the body craves for vitamins!
Almond milk is very easy to make. A bit of preparation - soaking almonds in water a day or two in advance prior to making milk. The longer you soak the almonds, the creamier milk will be.

”You only live once, but if you work it right once is enough.” – Joe E. Lewis Borealis

Driving to work today I knew that my taste buds needed something very specific to start this day right. The weather forecast sounded promising for the day, but apparently leaving home with oversized sunglasses "in the style of Victoria Beckham" didn't prove right quite yet.
Referring to the popular psychology books one should not wait for something to start enjoying the little things. Yet today I simply knew that no matter how late I might end up running for work, a stop at a close by cafe for that raspberry latte was a must. A must in order to finally start this day right.
It got me thinking why sometimes we can eat just about anything to satisfy the hunger and then there are those moments when you need something good, specific, exactly the way your brain tells you and never the less looking beautiful on the plate in front of you.
So I did need a beautiful huge cup of raspberry latte... The first sip was heavenly and once again I reminded myself to stop by a grocery store after work to pick up something fresh and treat myself to a tasty meal in the evening paired with a glass of chilled white wine.
